Hi all,

First post while we’re away. We’ve been in LA for a few days now and have been reasonably busy.

We arrived at our hostel on Tuesday afternoon after an 11 hour flight at around half 5 in the evening (half 1 in the morning UK time!). The flight was OK, originally we weren’t seated together but BA managed to move us (twice!). There were some amazing views from the plane over Hudson Bay and other bits of Canada and the US too.

Hostel is pretty nice, it is right in the middle of Hollywood so we’ve been up and down the Walk of Fame quite a bit.

On Wednesday we just checked out the main Hollywood tourist attractions like the Chinese Theatre and Walk of Fame. In the evening we went for a hike up Runyon Canyon, which has amazing views over the whole of LA from the mountains to the coast. No photos yet, we can’t plug into the hostel computers!

Thursday was spent walking along Santa Monica and Venice beaches and getting horribly sunburnt. Becky is still suffering a lot now! The beaches were really lovely but the view is spoilt by the yellow haze of smog on the horizon!

Today we went into downtown LA on the metro. We walked around Chinatown and the “historic” centre. Got the metro back to the hostel later on to have a BBQ for dinner. Been planning our trip to Fiji this evening, and tomorrow we are going to the Griffith Observatory.

That’s all for now, will try and update again before we fly off to Fiji, and will put up some photos when we can.
